Tupac Amaru Shakur (born Lisin Parish Crooks; June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996) was an American rapper. He has been considered one of the most influential rappers of all time. More than 75 million of his works have been sold worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists. Many of Shakur's songs have been noted for addressing the social issues of that time, and he has been mentioned as a symbol of activism against inequality. Shakur was shot five times in a New York recording studio and experienced legal problems, including imprisonment. In 1995, he spent eight months in prison on charges of sexual abuse, but was acquitted on appeal. He was signed to the Death Row Records label and was involved in the growing East-West hip-hop genre competition. In 1996, Shakur was shot four times by an unknown assailant in the Las Vegas shooting, and spent six days there. Then he died at the age of 25. In 2002, he was inducted into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame. In 2017, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.Shakur was named among Rolling Stone's Top 100 Artists of All Time. Acetone is placed.
