Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. As a teenager, he was banned from secular music and grew up with gospel music. Perry started her music career in her freshman year of high school under the name Katy Hudson and released an album of the same name in 2002. A year later, he moved to Los Angeles to work in secular music. He co-recorded an album with The Matrix, which was released in 2009. He also recorded an album with Glenn Ballard, which was never released due to contractual issues. In April 2007, Perry signed with Capital Records. In 2008, he became famous with the release of the single "I Kissed a Girl" from his second album, one of the boys, which was pop rock. The singles "California Girls", "Teenage Dream", "Fireworks", "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (TGIF)" from his disco-influenced third album, Teenage Dream, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Teenage Dream was the first album by a female artist to have five #1 singles on the Billboard charts, and the second all-time album after Michael Jackson's Bad Album (1987). In March 2012, she re-released the album as Teenage Dream: Perfect Sweetness, with the singles "Part of Me" and "Totally Sober" reaching number one and two on the Billboard charts, respectively. Pari's fourth album called Manshur was released in 2013, which included the songs "Roar" and "Dark Horse" which ranked 1 on Billboard. At that time, Perry usually did the songwriting work with others, notably Dr. Luke and Max Martin. The electropop album Proof was her fifth album released in 2017 and Perry's third album to reach number one in the US. His sixth album, Smile, released in 2020, marked a return to the pop roots of his earlier works.
