Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The group started in 1981 in Los Angeles, USA with vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, and spent most of their career in San Francisco.

The formation of the Metallica group and the early years

Metallica is a famous music group from the city of Los Angeles in the United States.
They were formed in late 1981.
Lars Ulrik, in his famous Los Angeles newspaper ad, was looking for metal band members.
James Hetfield answered his ad and joined the band as guitarist and vocalist.
5 months after the first meeting between Hatfield and Ulrich, the band was formed.

The name of a group originally came from the idea of one of Lars Ulrik’s friends.
He pondered the names “Metallica” and “Metalmania” within himself, but in the end Lars Ulrik chose the name “Metallica”.
At the same time, Dave Mustin answered Lars’ ad for a lead guitarist, and after seeing his expensive equipment, Ulrich and Hetfield agreed to let Mustin join the band.
The band released their first song called “Heat Daylights” from the “Metal Masker” collection.
This collection was also published in 1982.
The band made their first live performance on March 14, 1982 in California, accompanied by bass guitarist Ron McGauney.

In 1982, friends named Hetfield and Ulrich met bass guitarist Cliff Burton and liked his playing skills.

On Megadeth’s debut album, Dave Mustaine included the song “Mechanics”, which Metallica had previously worked on and titled “The Four Horsemen”.
Dave Mustaine did this to challenge Metallica, adding that Metallica called him a drunk and said he couldn’t play guitar.

In 1983, Metallica’s Kill Them All was released and peaked at number 155 on the Billboard 200.
This album was not a great financial success.
But it had a huge impact on Metallica’s popularity in the underground metal scene.
